Skip Houser has resided most of his life in Olympia and is a graduate of Olympia High School. He graduated from Western Washington University in 1977 with a degree in Political Science and law school from University of Puget Sound, now known as Seattle University, He also earned a Masters in Public Administration from the Evergreen State College.
Skip has previously worked in state government as the Staff Director of the Efficiency and Accountability Commission and Deputy Director of the Department of Trade and Economic Development. He continues to be a instructor for numerous law enforcement and fire agencies throughout the country.

Skip is a member of the Washington State Bar, the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, and the Thurston County Bar Association. He also maintains his ties to the community serving as a elected Fire Commissioner in the county and past President of the State Fire Commissioner’s Association, Board member of the Newcastle Homeowner’s Association and a member of the Thurston County Superior Court’s Drug Court Foundation Board. Skip is married, has three children and also coaches youth soccer, baseball, basketball and football.

Skip’s law practice is quite diverse, balanced between both civil and criminal litigation and representing businesses and associations. He serves frequently as a pro-tem Judge for the City of Olympia and other jurisdictions. His clients include the Olympia Farmers Market, the Carlyon Beach Homeowner’s Association, the Rainier Historical Society, and Fire Protection Districts. Even though his practice is diverse, Skip emphasizes practice in the areas of Family Law in Dissolutions and Modifications of Custody and Child Support, Criminal Law in DUI’s and Domestic Violence and Business Law in contracts and business formation.
